Barbed Wire

 What is the answer to untruth? 

Truth. 

Spoken and heard. 

What is the answer to 

injustice? 

Struggle. 

What is the answer to 

despair? 

Hope. 

What is it that we do 

when they try to pull the ground from under our feet? 

We stand our ground. 

What do we do when they tell us we can't? 

We Defy. 

What do we do when they try to silence us and tell us, 

'your voice doesn't matter'. 

We sing! 

Songs of resistance. 

What is it that we do

when they erect fences, 

build walls, 

draw borders and wire them barbed? 

We tresspass. 

Painstakingly, 

throw ourselves over the barbed wire, 

one by one, 

all of us, 

till it's a pile of bodies, 

making a bridge, 

that our children and their children can simply walk over, 

without hurting their feet. 

What do we do when we are asked to hate? 

We reason. 

What is our answer to War? 

We Love.
